The North Face Hot Shot Daypack
Price: $78.95 - BUY

Angled BackSaver bottom helps shift loads to minimize strain. 1,850-cubic-inch capacity.

Pop quiz, hot shot: How are you going to haul your school laptop and climbing gym gear in the same trip? If the gym doesn't require a rope, you're good to go with the Hot Shot Daypack from The North Face. This latest incarnation from The North Face is very similar to previous Hot Shot packs, but this one features a universal padded sleeve that accommodates most laptop computers and also doubles as a hydration bladder pouch. This 1,850-cubic-inch backpack has BackSaver Technology to potentially reduce lower back strain between classes and pitches. The North Face developed their BackSaver Technology by angling the bottom of the Hot Shot pack to shift the pack weight closer to your back, making this daypack ideal for moderate backcountry loads with a large hydration bladder or big campus projects involving a stack of reference material. A daisy chain on the front of the pack makes it easy to clip in extra climbing gear while dual mesh side water bottle pockets help keep you hydrated during essay exams. No matter how you use it, you'll ace your final in functionality.

Advice from the Crown of Africa experience:
"Lower Montane Forest -- Starting out, you'll be in synthetic or fleece shorts, a polyester T-shirt, sock liners with synthetic or wool hiking / trekking socks, and heavy duty hiking boots. I swear by - not at - my Montrail boots. They broke in easily and never hurt my feet. You do not need double plastic mountaineering boots for this ascent."
