Gregory Baltoro Backpack
Price: $268.95 - BUY

A well-equipped overnight backpack with up to 4,600 cubic inches of carrying capacity.

Whether you're gone overnight in the fall or for a week in the summer, Gregory's Baltoro carries your backcountry belongings in perfect balance through an articulated Response Suspension System. Like many Gregory pack designs, the Baltoro offers three separate access points and a generous interior that easily accommodates a sleeping bag, extra clothing and food, so you can unload or reload in far less time than traditional packs that just have a top opening. The Response Suspension System has an independent rotating waist belt system that not only rotates with you for better articulation as you hike, ski and climb, it also keeps your center of gravity better aligned than conventional packs, so you expend less energy. It features an extra-soft pre-curved ergonomic 3D waist belt supported with a soft harness that helps eliminate traditional abrasion hot spots. Depending on how you layer, you'll find that you can enjoy a hip angle fit that ranges from -10 to 35 degrees of motion (there's less range of motion with heavier layers like an insulated ski jacket or multiple layers of thick fleece). Other key features include an internal hydration sleeve with dual tube ports and expandable side pockets that accommodate extra items. Compression stiffening panels in the Baltoro help stabilize pack loads even when you're hiking light with a fraction of the normal carrying capacity. This is a great design for minimalist backpacking trips, winter scrambles and well-equipped day hikes.

Advice from the Crown of Africa experience:
"Lower Montane Forest -- Starting out, you'll be in synthetic or fleece shorts, a polyester T-shirt, sock liners with synthetic or wool hiking / trekking socks, and heavy duty hiking boots. I swear by - not at - my Montrail boots. They broke in easily and never hurt my feet. You do not need double plastic mountaineering boots for this ascent."
